2026 Elk Hunt Application Picks

Our recommended Elk application choices for the 2026 seasons are listed below. Use your points wisely, don't waste your life waiting. Our top picks are designated in bold with three stars. Most applicants should apply for "mid-tier" and "upper-mid" hunt options. Don't get caught up in chasing points, odds, or inches. Pick hunts that fit your goals and play the draw, it is about the experience! The application period is currently open via the www.azgfd.com website. Always list the lowest draw odds hunt as “1st Choice” and the highest draw odds hunt as “2nd Choice.” If you do not wish to apply for hunts this year, make sure to select the “Purchase Bonus Point Only” option.

Bonus points (BPs) listed represent the amount needed to guarantee drawing, during the previous year's draw (2025). If a range of numbers is listed, some applicants with the lower number drew in the "bonus-pass," all applicants at the higher number drew. Keep in mind, 80% of the tags are drawn in the "random" draw. Make the most of your hard earned Bonus Points whenever possible. "Opportunity" hunts have low trophy potential but high draw odds, these are any-bull type hunts or cow hunts.

“Mid-Tier” hunts are considered to have representative age/size animals 280-330" Class bulls.

"Upper-Mid" hunts usually produce marginally larger bulls than the mid-tier units +10-20" call it 340-350" potential.

“Trophy” hunts offer better chances of taking a 350" or bigger Bulls.
