Arizona Javelina make for a fun hunting experience. The Collared Peccary is a member of the family Tayassuidae or New World Pigs. Unrelated to Old World Swine, javelina fill a similar ecological niche in the New World and are unique to Central and South America as well as the Southwestern United States. Javelina inhabit many areas within Arizona, south of the Grand Canyon. The largest as most established populations are often in the Central and Southeastern portions of the state.

Gold package Javelina hunts are "Fully Outfitted." A CHASE'N THE KING fully Licensed and permitted Arizona Javelina hunting guide, all meals, non-alcoholic drinks, snacks, lodging, field care of game, camp equipment, and all other items necessary for outfitting this hunt will be provided. Fully outfitted options are typically the best value and provide the best hunter experience.
Javelina hunters are responsible for their weapon, tag, license, all personal items, and clothing needed for this hunt.
Improved hunt options include: a dedicated camp cook, additional spotters, and a dedicated videographer.

Guide Only
Silver package Javelina hunts include ONLY a CTK fully Licensed and permitted Arizona Javelina guide, transportation while hunting, and field care of game.
"Guide Only" Javelina hunters are responsible for providing their own lodging and meals suited for their respective hunt conditions. If camping your guide will coordinate the appropriate location.
Additionally, hunters are responsible for their weapon, tag, license, all personal items, and clothing needed for this hunt.
Dedicated videographer and additional spotters are available as an improved hunt option. All other aspects and details of the hunt would fall under the Gold Package.

Arizona Javelina Hunts
Javelina exist throughout much of the desert, chaparral, and ponderosa pine forests of Arizona. Javelina are a recent entrant into the state. Originating in South America, the species has steadily and naturally migrated northward. A rarity in southern AZ as recently as the mid 1800's these pig-like animals have established themselves throughout the state. Their distribution is commonly between 1000 and 6000 feet in elevation.
Arizona Javelina Hunting Seasons
Arizona javelina hunting seasons consist of archery-only, youth, handgun-archery-muzzleloader, general rifle, and over-the-counter timeframes. Check out the "Guided Arizona Javelina Hunts" section for the specific hunts we have availability for.
Arizona Javelina Draw
The Spring Draw takes place annually the second Tuesday of October, the next draw deadline is October 13th, 2020. Archery-Only, Handgun-Archery-Muzzleloader (HAM), and general Rifle Javelina Tags must be applied for and drawn through the AZGFD Spring Draw. Javelina hunt draw odds are extremely high because of the ample tag numbers.
Arizona Javelina Habitat
Javelina can be found throughout the desert and chaparral portions of Arizona. More and more commonly Javelina are becoming prevelant in the areas above the Mogollon Rim as well. This is a testiment to the relatively mild winters in AZ, since Javelina are from a tropical South American environment they lack a downy undercoat to protect them from extreme cold. They tend to be in topographically broken country with ample cover, feed, and water. Washes, creeks, and ravines make for good protected areas for these pig-like animals. They a veracious eaters, and will root through the soil overturning rocks and logs in search of edible roots, tubers, insects, cacti, fruits, acorns, grass and more. They tend to have very habitual home ranges in areas that provide for all of their needs.

Guided Arizona Javelina Hunts
We offer guided Arizona Javelina hunts in GMU 23 and 24B. Specifically during the HAM ( Handgun, Archery, Muzzleloader ) and the Rifle ( General ) seasons.
If you'd like to apply for Javelina please contact us for application choices prior to the draw which takes place the second Tuesday in October for the following Spring's hunts.
All of the Javelina we hunt are truly wild. Living in scenic and pristine environments. We do not hunt Javelina near agricultural or residential areas. Real, wild, fair-chase hunts in natural habitat.
BOOKING YOUR JAVELINA HUNT
Javelina tags are available through the AZGFD Spring Drawing or for some archery hunts Over-The-Counter. Hunts are booked on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you want to hunt the best seasons and areas, talk with us early to go over the application and draw process. Upon booking a 50% deposit is required to hold your upcoming hunt spot.
